One of the most repeated aspects around the figure of the gym is that of being signed up and not going. This happens more often than it should, and many people, even though they are aware that they are paying for something they do not use, are not encouraged to take up physical activity to improve their health.

This happens, above all, in the case of people who have either never exercised before or have given it up for various reasons. The pattern is usually always the same: we sign up with motivation through the roof, we do a first ecstatic training session and the next day, the stiffness does not let us get out of bed.

The motivation of the first day disappears, and the desire to return to the gym, too. But then, what can we do to be consistent?

The first day is a double-edged sword. As we mentioned before, we feel like it and we do our best to make up for months or years without exercising. But we already know the result: the next day it will be practically impossible to move because of stiffness.

How can we remedy this situation? Well, we can do it by wanting to have done a little more exercise, even if our body asks us to do so. This has a double advantage: the next day we will not be too tired not to go to train, and our motivation to continue improving will be sky high.

Or, to put it another way, it is never advisable to go from 0 to 100, but to go little by little and wait for the long-term results, which, by the way, if we are consistent, usually come sooner than expected.

DISCARD LOW-COST GYMS

We are aware that not all gyms are made for all budgets, but our clear recommendation is that you try to reuse the low-cost chains. These types of centers have a major problem, especially for people who are just starting to improve their fitness. Although they have a very competitive price, there are no personal trainers in the room who can accompany and guide us in achieving our goals. And, in the worst cases, there will be no one to help and guide us to know how to use the machines.

This is especially relevant for people who are not familiar with fitness centers: improper use of the equipment can lead to undesirable injuries that can put an end to our desire.

CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE SPORT

Doing sport is doing life and any sport practice is more than valid if it meets one condition: it is to your liking. Although the ideal is always going to be a training plan dictated by a professional, it is always preferable that this training plan includes sports practices that are to our liking. Although practices such as crossfit are now in fashion, not everyone should be obliged to practice it.
