One of the biggest debates surrounding sports practice in gyms has to do with the dilemma between a gym or a personal trainer. In this sense, we would like to start this post by saying that there is no bad option, as long as we fulfill the goal: doing sports.
The correct choice of an option will depend on each person's personal circumstances (their free time, their financial capacity...), but as long as health is prioritized over any other variable, the result will always be positive.

But, like many aspects in life, each of these two possibilities has its advantages and disadvantages, which are worth considering and, above all, as we mentioned before, it is important to think about our own possibilities and motivations to choose the option that best suits us, depending on the case.
Pros of choosing a gym
In the case of the gym, the positive aspects have to do with adaptation and socialization:
- You will have access to discover new disciplines that you had not worked on before . Gyms, especially the big chains, have different types of activities, adapted to many types of people, so they always have options for any type of user. It will be a matter of trying and discovering which one best suits your tastes.
- Meeting people and expanding your friendships. Working out in a gym inevitably puts you in contact with other people. The gym can be another place to expand your group, especially if you start your life in a city other than your home destination.
- No appointment is necessary. Unlike with personal training, you can go at a time that suits you best, without having to make an appointment with anyone. In fact, there are many centres that offer extended hours to suit the circumstances of a very large number of people. Likewise, group classes are usually available throughout the day.

On the personal trainer side, better and more detailed, fully personalized attention plays a positive role.
- Individualized attention. As we said, this is one of the great strengths of a personal trainer. The fact that only one professional is looking after a user gives the trainer the possibility of paying very specific attention to the user's performance in order to make the appropriate corrections at all times.
- Greater chances of success. By being in constant contact with our trainer during training, we will be able to optimize the specific variables of the training, depending on our situation at any given time, which will allow us to have a greater chance of achieving our goals.
- Motivation. One of the biggest 'walls' that many people face when it comes to exercising is quickly solved with this modality. By meeting with our trainer and being accompanied by him/her at all times, we will have enough motivation to continue forward and improve.
Which option is better?
So, which of the two options is better? We have it clear: both! And no, it's not that we don't want to get wet; it's because we believe in a modality that takes the best of both options.
Or, to put it another way, our training method is based on a hybrid of both forms of training. We believe in individualized group classes, that is, group classes in which a trainer has the ability to give instructions to all users. Because this way we maintain the great benefits of both possibilities: we have the opportunity to socialize and form a group with other people, and we maintain the personalized attention and motivation of having a personal trainer who encourages us to continue and improve.
So, while we train in a group and a professional monitors our movements, we will also have the opportunity to exercise with different machines in the room.
